Four Hope for Justice Uganda staff members who were travelling together in a vehicle from Karamoja (north eastern Uganda) returning to our country office in the capital, Kampala, were involved in a road accident on Friday, 19th January in which a member of the public driving a motorbike taxi (known as a boda boda) sadly died.
The accident happened shortly after midday just outside the city of Soroti, about 290km from Kampala. Our staff members were physically unharmed and have been cooperating fully with the local police. No charges have been brought.
We will be supporting and offering counselling to our affected staff members and helping them return to their homes. Our thoughts are with the family of the person who lost their life in this accident.
