Hope for Justice is convening a second roundtable event in the U.S. Senate on Wednesday February 1st for anti-trafficking stakeholders who want to stop human trafficking at the policy level, building on the positive outcomes of the Anti-Trafficking In Persons (ATIP) Policy Leader Roundtable on Capitol Hill in September of last year.
Continuing the momentum on the passage of anti-trafficking bills in the final weeks of the last Congress, and looking ahead to the work still to do, the goal of the roundtable is to provide meaningful dialogue and exchange about congressional legislation in addition to creating a space for quality connections. It follows excellent feedback on the first ATIP Policy Leader Roundtable convened by Hope for Justice in September 2022.
Recent victories include the passage of the domestic portion of the reauthorization of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA), and the confirmation of the new Ambassador-at-Large to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (the TIP Ambassador), Cindy Dyer, after nearly two years without permanent leadership in this position.
There is also ‘unfinished business’ from the last Congress and new anti-trafficking policy ideas and agendas to be accomplished in 2023. We look forward to the reintroduction of previous bills and new ones as well.
This roundtable in February will be open to anti-trafficking stakeholders who want to stop human trafficking at the policy level and provide constructive feedback, from the field to lawmakers and congressional offices. We anticipate this event will be well-attended by senior figures from NGOs and government, as well as individuals and congressional leaders, so please RSVP as soon as possible. The goal of the Senate ATIP Policy Roundtable is to provide meaningful dialogue and exchange about congressional legislation in addition to space for quality connections after our time together.
