GUARDIANS are a community of monthly givers whose passion and financial commitment is enabling and empowering Hope for Justice’s life-changing anti-trafficking projects around the world.
We rescue vulnerable people trapped in brutal exploitation – those forced to work for little or no pay; made to cook and clean in domestic servitude; pressured to marry a stranger, often while still a child; or pushed into the sex trade.
GUARDIANS fund our specialist identification and rescue teams, who are investigators drawn from preeminent law enforcement agencies like the FBI and NCIS. Using a wide variety of methods, they identify victims of trafficking, build bridges of trust with them and remove them from exploitation or intense vulnerability to exploitation to a place of safety.
Because of GUARDIANS, our teams work closely with law enforcement agencies to ensure perpetrators are brought to justice.
Restore Lives
Rescue is not an event, it’s a process. GUARDIANS help survivors get the professional support they need to live new lives in freedom. Through outreach and advocacy, or at our own aftercare facilities where highly trained staff provide trauma-informed care, new lives are being built thanks to GUARDIANS.
We believe in the power of family – so, when serving vulnerable children at our Lighthouses, we work to transition them safely back to their families or family-based care. Our Lighthouses are complemented by our Shine Schools, focusing on education and life skills.
We stand with survivors through the criminal and civil justice processes to ensure they receive restitution. GUARDIANS are changing lives every day.
Reform Society
Ending human trafficking will require change at all levels of society. GUARDIANS are part of the campaign for reform. They fund our award-winning training program, through which thousands are taught to spot the signs and how to respond. This includes law enforcement, agencies, healthcare, the corporate sector and others.
We work at local, state and federal level to push for policy change and a greater voice for survivors. GUARDIANS are a key part of raising awareness in their own towns and cities, helping to create a world that is hostile to trafficking, where it will not be tolerated.
Prevent Exploitation
GUARDIANS fund our outreach teams and Self-Help Groups to empower people to protect their own families from predatory traffickers in some of the poorest parts of the world. Recent years have seen an increase in the impact of trafficking and children being forced into sex work and domestic servitude.
Our specialist teams, thanks to GUARDIANS, can engage with vulnerable children and help keep them safe. We run economic empowerment initiatives, wellbeing clubs and educational workshops in these countries to prevent family separation, which is so often a factor in children being targeted by traffickers.
"I am a GUARDIAN because I believe everyone has the right to dignity and freedom."
