Join us at New Wine’s summer event United 2022

Hope for Justice is gearing up to take part in New Wine’s summer conference, United 2022, which is now just four weeks away.

Families and churches from across the country will be pitching up their tents at the East of England Showground in Peterborough and joining together at the major Christian event to “encounter God afresh and take his blessing back home – to see the nation changed”.

Hope for Justice previously announced its partnership with New Wine, which is one of the UK’s largest church networks and who believe, like us, in standing in hope to transform the world. Together, we want to make a lasting impact in ending slavery through action and awareness.

As part of our year-long partnership, we are sponsoring United 2022, a summer conference spanning two weeks, with delegates booking onto either Week A, July 23-28, or Week B, July 29-August 3.

Hope for Justice will be attending the full event, and we’re looking forward to delivering a seminar in each week to equip the church to tackle modern slavery in the UK. Our team of staff and volunteers will also be ready to welcome you to our stand in the Resource Hub where you can add an unlocked padlock to our Freedom Wall, join us in praying for survivors of modern slavery, hear stories of freedom, learn more about our work and find out how you can play your part.

Modern slavery and human trafficking is happening globally but it’s also happening on our doorsteps.

A total of 3,777 potential victims of modern slavery were referred to the UK Home Office between January and March 2022. This represented a 13% increase in referrals compared to the preceding quarter (3,334) and a 29% increase from quarter 1 2021 (2,939).

Surprisingly, 77% (2,906) of those referred in the first three months of this year were male. This is in contrast to the global picture where there are nearly 30 million female victims of modern slavery, accounting for 71% of the overall total, according to the 2017 Global Estimates of Modern Slavery.

We want to equip and empower the church to tackle this global and local issue. To do this, the church needs to be informed. We also need to work together. No one person or group can tackle this alone; this issue requires united action. That’s why we’ll be inspiring you to work with us to be the change we want to see in the world.

United 2022 also promises impactful teaching, worship, Holy Spirit ministry, community, connection, and transformational encounters with God.

We’ll be at the conference alongside other United 2022 charity partners such as Compassion, Christians Against Poverty and International Justice Mission.

Hope for Justice is excited to be working with the New Wine network to train, inspire, build up and equip people to be the change makers in the communities they live and serve in. Together, we can end slavery.
