Christmas should be a time of joy, love and celebration, and for most of us it is. For victims of human trafficking, it is another day of numbness, abuse and fear.
There are hundreds of thousands of victims across the U.S., in every community, and millions more around the world. They are more than just victims, more than just statistics – they are men, women and children with hopes and dreams that have been cruelly denied them in the name of greed. Ruthless traffickers brutally exploit them and their bodies for profit.
It is unspeakable and it should not happen, not anywhere. At Hope for Justice, we are absolutely determined to end it, and we need your help. We cherish every life changed, and celebrate by placing an unlocked padlock on our ‘Freedom Wall’ to represent each one. You can see some of the real stories represented by these opened locks on our digital Freedom Wall, below:
Every Lock on our Freedom Wall represents a real life changed:
The only way to get there is one step at a time, one life changed at a time, and that is what your gift can do – especially when it is doubled by our generous match-funders, meaning every $1 you give is worth $2 to those we help.
This Christmas, you can unlock freedom for men and women, boys and girls.
Girls like Abigail, who was just 14 years old when she vanished. Her mother’s worst fears came true when she learned Abigail had been picked up by a much older man. Alone and vulnerable, Abigail faced unimaginable danger.
The moment her mom called us, Hope for Justice took action. Our investigators knew the signs: Abigail was at high risk of being trafficked. We worked tirelessly, organizing search parties with family and friends, putting up missing posters, canvassing neighborhoods and homeless camps, and reviewing hours of security footage. Every lead mattered.
We interviewed friends, scoured online sources, and monitored social media. Days passed with no word: then a breakthrough. A stranger saw our posters and called the sheriff’s office. At the same time, we uncovered a Facebook message that confirmed Abigail’s location.
Working alongside law enforcement, we found her and brought her home safely. Our team then uncovered critical evidence about the man who took her, and other potential victims.
Thanks to this intelligence, a full human trafficking investigation was launched. Today, because of donors like you who empower our investigations through your gifts, Abigail is safe, and we continue to support her family as they heal.
Think what your gift could mean for another victim of human trafficking, just like Abigail. And your impact will be even greater with your gift DOUBLED by our match-funders.
Traffickers exploit and enslave, destroying lives. You can take action against this injustice. Together, we can preserve freedom for those at risk of losing it and restore freedom for those who have lost it.
At Hope for Justice, we prevent trauma, train both the vulnerable and the vigilant to protect freedom, and restore survivors. Last year, donors like you helped to change more than 155,000 lives.
As you think about gifts for friends and family this Christmas, please also consider a gift that will make an impact against human trafficking and child exploitation: you can give to unlock freedom.
