Equipment hire specialist Sunbelt Rentals is today (Wednesday 24th February) announcing it is the newest member of Slave-Free Alliance.
Sunbelt Rentals is joining forces with the social enterprise, which supports businesses that want to protect their supply chains and operations from modern slavery. Its membership is part of its Sustainability 2025 strategy – an ongoing commitment to acting responsibly and sustainably for its people, customers, communities and the planet.
Membership of Slave-Free Alliance, which is part of the pioneering global anti-slavery charity Hope for Justice, will see Sunbelt Rentals welcome regular reviews of its suppliers, sites and processes. It will also run ongoing modern slavery awareness training for its staff and suppliers, to ensure they are equipped with the skills they need to spot the potential signs and know how to report them.
David Phillips, Logistics and Supply Chain Director at Sunbelt Rentals, said: “We chose to partner with Slave-Free Alliance because they instilled us with confidence that they will help us deliver our objectives in building an ethical, sustainable and transparent supply chain with all of our suppliers in the UK market. Our Sustainability 2025 strategy is focused on acting responsibly in every aspect of our work and business life, and we are committed to leading our industry in this area.”
Marc Stanton, Director at Slave-Free Alliance, said: “We are delighted that Sunbelt Rentals is joining us in the fight against modern slavery, and we are looking forward to working closely together to help achieve our shared goal; a slave-free supply chain. It’s wonderful to see this commitment from Sunbelt Rentals to play its part by ensuring that workers are not exploited. We hope that many other businesses will follow its example, and join with us.”
Membership of Slave-Free Alliance is open to all businesses, of any size, that wish to protect their supply chains and operations from modern slavery. New members become part of a global force for change, which began in the UK and now counts global multinationals and household names including AstraZeneca, Dixons Carphone, Experian and ALDI UK as members.
