Transcript of an interview by Scott & Kelli, KLOVE FM (Nashville).Abolition International is now a proud part of Hope for Justice.
“How often is that the case where we have our lives changed because of seeing something from a different perspective? And I know we’re here talking about ‘Making a Difference’ that it’s happened for you. The whole reason you started Abolition International to fight human trafficking is because you saw something different and your perspective changed.”
“Yes and you know I think what is so beautiful about what you guys [KLOVE FM Nashville] are doing is your giving people who think, ‘well, I’m not gonna go across the world and it’s too overwhelming to me to think to do this’, but everybody can do something. Everybody can do something … when you come into what happens to be my town this week, which is awesome … you give, you empower and equip people to realise that they can make a difference in their own community.
For me it did start, you know, by going across the world but now it’s turned into realizing that it’s just about going across the street.
There is need all around us and you don’t have to go to a different continent in order to find it. And I think that, just for me, the point for every person is — it doesn’t matter how big or how small, all God’s looking for you to do is just say ‘yes’. Just say ‘yes’ and go through the door that He opens.
Thank you [KLOVE] for giving people in Nashville such equipping to be able to realize that they can make a difference in their own town.”
“I think it’s really cool when you make yourself available, to see what God will do … things that you didn’t think you could do … because I would imagine when you started Abolition International that you wouldn’t have believed to see where the organization has gone?”
“Well I would never even have believed that I would have gone to India in the first place because I hate flying and I definitely don’t like flying over oceans! Just that, in and of itself, was an act of God, that I was like ‘oh my word, I’m going to this place where I don’t know if I’m going to like the food and where am I going to be sleeping and what am I going to be doing’ and you get so scared.
Fear keeps us from doing so much but when we just say ‘yes’, even when we don’t have all of the details, that scripture that says … He’ll do immeasurably more than we can ever ask, think or imagine … I mean I feel like I live that on a daily basis and with Abolition International. I mean I never would have dreamed that it would be going where it’s going and it’s so exciting to see what God can do when we say ‘yes’.”
